HOW TO FIND YOUR OWN UNIQUE SINGING STYLE

HOW TO FIND YOUR OWN UNIQUE SINGING STYLE.
FINDING YOUR UNIQUE SINGING STYLE IN FOUR SIMPLE STEPS.

One of the most important tips to being a singer either you’re singing for fun, or you are singing to make money is ‘finding your unique singing style’. Packaged with this tip is ‘finding the kind of music that suits you’.
To find a unique singing style for yourself, you need to have previously figured out the kind of music that suits you. Let’s assume you already know the genre of music that suits you, if not click here and I’ll take you to an earlier article that teaches on finding the kind of music that suits you.

1.     FIND YOUR FAVOURITE SINGER IN THE SAME GENRE AS YOU.
If you already know your kind of music, the next thing is getting to know the singer you like best in that genre. For example, if your kind of music is hiphop, you need to figure out which hiphop singer you’d rather be if you were given a chance to be him for a day.
    Ask yourself the following questions:
Do I share any similarities with this singer?

Does listening to one of his songs make me want to download a hundred more?

If the answer to the questions above is yes, then you’ve found your music mentor. The bottom line is do not aspire to be like  them. Study their style instead and improvise into yours.

There’s the story of a boy who loved edsheeran  . When he thought deeply about it, he realized he didn’t actually, he realized he didn’t actually loved edsheeran, he loved the sound of his acoustic guitar, and loved the choice of words he used in his songs. The  little boy of 12 fell in love  with acoustic guitars, got one for himself and learnt to play.
Somewhere in the long run, he figured he only got inspiration on words for his lyrics whenever he strummed for himself. He realized he couldn’t sing along when someone else played the guitar for him. He couldn’t find words nor note to compose songs.
    Why?
He couldn’t because  that was his style, and no one else could play his style better than himself. He couldn’t adapt to singing to someone else’s style of playing the acoustic guitar. Hey; that doesn’t rate him any less of a good singer and song writer.
He played for himself, kept writing new songs, kept piling them and sharing. In no time, boy at 13 got recognition for his unique style. You could listen to his song and predict the singer without a clue except of course the singing style.
Finding your favourite singer opens door to other discovery. Your style brings recognition to your music and keeps your listeners hungry to hear another song from you.

2.    Check into your personality.
Your personality have a say in what style you should sing. If you are a very emotional person with an insatiable thirst for intimacy, then hiphop would most definitely not be your music genre. You should look more at singing love songs, the kind you would with all of your heart. Songs that require that you shed emotions.

3. Figure what your favourite musical instrument is.
Oh yeah! If you enjoy listening to the sound of the violin, or viola, then you have a feel for slow tempo songs that require long stretch voice sustain. That’s your style. And vice-versa.
Note : your style can also be a mash up of varieties of musical instruments.

4.Find your voice limit
Figure out the limit to how high or low your voice can go by singing from your lowest bass and going higher until you are unable to exceed a point. The keys between your lowest bass and your extreme key is where your convenience lies. Your listeners will identify you by the key pitch of your voice. See don Williams, as opposed to Whitney Houstin yet they are both known for their respective styles and the level of the notes in the product of their voices.
